Field TripsIn first grade we believe students learn best when they can get hands on with what they are learning. The first grade teachers do their best to find places in our community where we can do field trips to create hands on learning experiences throughout the school year. When field trips are organized your child's teacher will notify you with details about the field trip and when permission slips are due.

Lunch• Students will have the opportunity to order Peanut Butter & Jelly through our school lunches.
• You may pack your child's own lunch for a field trip if you wish. |
Parent Chaperones•Teachers must have a parent for every 5-8 children.
• Usually teachers will take 2-3 parent chaperones for a given field trip. • Chaperones are chosen on a first come first serve basis. If you had already been chosen for a field trip you may not be chosen for the next field trip so other parents have the opportunity. |
Medications• If your child takes medications with the nurses office within the school day it will be brought on the field trip with the teacher.
• If there are any medical or health concerns that you may have please bring it to the nurse's and teacher's attention well before the field trip. |
FAQQ- If I do not get chosen as a chaperone can I show up at the field trip and join my child?
A- As teachers it is our responsibility to keep all of our students safe. If parents come on field trips that were not selected as chaperones it jeopardizes our class' safety. Q- What if my child is allergic to Peanut Butter but I want my child to order lunch? A- The cafeteria staff will work with you and your child to accommodate the allergy. They will usually make the child a cold cut sandwich that is on the menu for the day. |
